We may or may not ever be able to make an announcement that "we're pregnant"...but we have come to understand that the blessing is the fact that however parenthood happens, it is a miracle! ....... Now we have been home with our precious blessing from Russia since August 2007. Join us on our fun and crazy ride that we call "life with this child of mine."

Recent Observations
Thanks for all your comments on my other post!! I didn't quite make it to 100, but it was so fun to hear from everyone. If you didn't comment, but want to spread the love, it's not too late! :)

Moving on...

Just a quick brain dump tonight...because there's so much I want to tell you & so little time. I guess a bulleted post is better than no post at all...plus there are lots of little tidbits in here! If there's anything you are interested in me devoting a whole post to, just let me know.

But for now...here goes:
  • Iliya loves Santa Claus but abhors the idea of him coming to our house.
  • Nathan enjoys his new job...it's a bit different than his old job (though with the same agency) so there's a learning curve, but he's getting it & liking it
  • We have the best "house sitter" in the world
  • Iliya really likes his new school - talks about it all the time, and loves to tell me about Bubba and Gump (the rabbits)
  • He is talking nonstop and in fairly complete sentences these days - more people are able to understand him!
  • fat free hotdogs are really bad.
  • even smothered in chili.
  • Unless something changes, Iliya will be having some sort of Elmo theme to his birthday this year...I'm beginning to believe that children are programmed in utero to relate to that furry red monster.
  • I'm not sure what we'll be doing about his birthday this year...I haven't even given the timing much thought... but he told me today that he wants "one, two, three, four, five, sixseveneightnineten, eleven, twelve!!! balloons" at his birthday.
  • our house is still up for sale - what a bad time to try to sell a house (any takers?)
  • Iliya's favorite color is "ROLL KIDE!" (red)
  • He won't wear much (willingly) unless it is "roll kide."
  • His favorite thing to do these days is take his clothes off, and go drawer digging to find more to replace the ones he just shed.
  • If you ask him, he'll tell you that green means "GO!" red means "STOP" and yellow means, "sloooooooooow dooowwwwn."
  • Nathan has been having problems with his shoulder - he has no idea what he's done to it, but it's been hurting lately.
  • The other day, Iliya was playing with Easter eggs (wrong season, I know) and I said, "Oh look! A green egg. Maybe we could have green eggs and ham!" To which he replied, "No, (that's) cat in the hat!"
  • I love my job, too - the job is interesting and the people are super nice.
  • Nathan & I both miss our former co-workers...and although Iliya doesn't talk about it much, I'm sure he still misses his former school/friends
  • I've been very impressed with Iliya's new school (I've mentioned that before, though, haven't I?)
  • Roll Tide!!
  • Iliya keeps us in stitches...he is the most hilarious child in the world
  • I am very happy.
  • Iliya loves watering the plants
  • He is becoming more independent by the day - he can now put most of his clothes on by himself (did I mention his favorite hobby is drawer digging these days?) and HAS to do everything himself
  • He is very affectionate - lots of big hugs, kisses, and saying/signing "I love you"
  • The last 3 mornings have been met with dry diapers & Iliya has been sporadically making it to the potty before he actually goes in his diaper - in fact, he used the same pull-up most of the day. So it seems that we are slowly but surely making our way to being potty trained!
and last but certainly not least...
  • I see this sign every day on my way home...it makes me smile. :)

I'll fix the picture in the morning. :) Goodnight!

Tell Iliya I said ROLL KIDE ROLL too. I have ALABAMA sticker's on my SUV and the other day someone up in Gainesville, Florida Gator country, gave me a not so nice of a wave.

So! beinging the great person I am I held up the Window Cling I had not put on the Crimson colored SUV, and waved nicely back at them the right way. Oh yea and I held up 2 finger's for 2nd place. I hope when we go back up I can show him a National Championship Picture..........Oh yea, that's right, go Bama go, Roll Tide Roll.............Love, Earl and Carolyn Nelson.........................Bama fans forever.

Is it just me or is the Hair Odyssey man just a little bit scary in a Back to the 80's kind of way? (That is one SERIOUS mullet!!)

I used to have a balding hairdresser once who, rather than grow a 'comb over' just painted his bald spot black! I kid you not! It didn't exactly inspire me with confidence in his taste!

You need to send Iliya over to my part of the world to explain to drivers what red, yellow and green mean :)

I really need someone in my life who will be all about my hair! It is pathetic.

I just am so delighted to hear all about Iilya's new discoveries and conclusions. Bullet posts are fun to read.

I hope and pray you will be able to sell your house at the perfect time.

Ready to go back for another little guy yet?!
