We may or may not ever be able to make an announcement that "we're pregnant"...but we have come to understand that the blessing is the fact that however parenthood happens, it is a miracle! ....... Now we have been home with our precious blessing from Russia since August 2007. Join us on our fun and crazy ride that we call "life with this child of mine."

One cool thing about having a blog is that you can go back in time to see how life used to be. Sometimes it's fun to just go back in time & see what happened "on this date in history" (which is pretty obvious, because I do this occasionally).

It's amazing to me how far we all have come - in every way possible! Also amazing to me is the fact that Iliya - at 31 months, today - is over halfway to 3 years old! I'm enjoying all the things that come along with his growth, but at the same time, I'd really like to stack some books on his head & keep him small for just a little while longer. Our nighttime routine is getting a little uncomfortable, because he's getting so tall (it's difficult to find a comfortable position for rocking him in the little glider-rocking chair we have). Sometimes I feel like I haven't had him small for long enough to get all the cuddling in that I want to do. He still LOVES to be held and to snuggle. But I can't keep from thinking that he will eventually be "too cool" for me.

I've decided that I will enjoy every moment afforded me, so that I have wonderful memories to think back on, whenever the days of "too coolness" do arrive.

Friday afternoon, we have our 1-year post-placement visit. I canNOT believe we are already at this point.

A year ago, I had no idea that we would receive "the call" in just over a week...and that it would be less than a month until we were reunited with our little boy forever.

Amazing stuff!

And happy 31-months, today, my sweet Iliya!!

You are right that is neat to be able to look back. The funny thing is many of the people who commented on the blog were waiting and are now have either completed or are on their way to complete.
How cool.

A year! Ok, almost. Can you believe it? We have our homestudy agency coming over on Tuesday. Photos, height, weight, and skills ready. Just think, we don't have to do any more paperwork for the Russian government for a year! Now that is worth celebrating.
