Do you know this book? As a person whose profession revolves around children, I always enjoyed the book. In the past, it might have even moved me to tears a few times, as I dreamed about the day I would have my own child to hold and read bedtime stories to. For those of you who may have never read it, the book is "a day in the life of parent and child - full of smiles and giggles, messes and meals, boundless energy and well-earned naps. Not to mention lots of love." It is a precious collection of short rhymes that talk about how a parent and child complement one another. For instance:

I am your parent; you are my child
I am your quiet place; you are my wild. . . .

One evening, several months after Iliya came home, I pulled the book out to read to him for the first time.

I had not read the book in quite a long time, and that night, I read it with new eyes - the eyes of a parent who had been down a very long, winding road to bring my child home. And one line in particular took on a completely new significance for me:

"I am your way home... you are my new path."

As you can well imagine, I choked on that line and had difficulty finishing the book. I don't know if the author wrote that line to include a special meaning, but what an apropos description of our journey to each other! I think it will always hold a special meaning in my heart.
