Okay...so...there's really not much to write about these days. I guess I could talk about the upcoming elections, but honestly, I really don't like politics so much (I'm almost afraid of what that says about me) and I definitely don't want to bring debate/division into this blog...so I choose to leave that particular topic alone. I do have a couple different random posts started, but haven't felt the urgency to finish them up. I guess that's one of the great things about writing for your own blog...there's no deadline or specific topic that must be talked about. And one of these days, you'll get a real post, with real information in it.
Till then...
Do you realize that 6 months ago we were on
Day 9 of our 10-day wait? We have been a family for
six months. That fact came up at dinner with friends the other night, and it is just so hard to believe that time is passing so quickly.
So with that, I am going to post (yet) another video. Each time I post a video, I go back to one 5 or 6 months ago and absolutely cannot believe how much Iliya has changed. But I won't get sentimental on you right now, because I have to set the stage for this particular video.
I was cooking a quick spaghetti dinner, last night, and the boys were in the kitchen floor, playing this silly game they made up. Iliya was putting small farm animals into a box, while Nathan said "goodbye" to each animal. And then Iliya would dump all the animals out, and Nathan would say, "hello" to the pile. Iliya thought it was the funniest thing (I think he was getting tired & delirious) - and I was getting so tickled at both of them. I happened to notice that the video camera was on the counter, so quietly (as to not attract much attention), I grabbed the camera and began filming.
Later, you will see the blessing & a little bit of good ole food-eatin'.
If you've been following this blog for the past 6 months, you know that - in the beginning, patience during food preparation and mealtimes was one of our biggest issues with Iliya. There were no games while I cooked for the first couple months...only a child that literally screamed & cried & whined the whole time we were in the kitchen. We blessed the food, but it was over the sound of a screaming child - and we started out short (
Dear God, thank you, Amen) and have worked up to prayers that are a bit longer. When food was gone, no matter if Iliya's belly was full, he would cry like we had broken his heart.
I don't know that I've ever really posted a video where he's screaming...but you've read about it. And some of you closer family & friends have actually witnessed it, firsthand.
And if you have, I think you will agree...we've come a long way, baby!
And of course...a A LINK in case it doesn't work.
Such a precious video..."mamen!"
:o)
love sis
He is one smart cookie--he's so blessed and we're so blessed!
