VICTORY!
Louder!
VICTORY!!!!!!!Okay, so many of you know that I am a
Weight Watcher (can I say that?? Well, I am!) I weigh in tomorrow...the day before I weigh in, I usually try to eat fairly light - it's probably psychological, but it seems to help me feel positive.
Well, tonight, we went to eat dinner with some of N's co-workers, and of all places we went to a Mexican restaurant! I was VERY nervous - but I called on one of my close friends (who is also a fellow weight-struggler and a very successful WW'er) and she really helped me with some positive self-talk before we went to dinner. This was one thing she said that really stuck in my head:
She said, "Keep telling yourself that it's one dinner, there will be other mexican dinners in your future."
How true is that??
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I just have to tell you how my dinner went:
I am fairly certain I only ate 8 points for supper. First, I put TWO pieces of gum in my mouth and chewed the heck out of that gum to keep my fingers off of the chips/salsa/cheese dip. I can honestly say I didn't have ONE chip. Not even a nibble. There's Victory #1.
I drank water with extra lemon (and to the waiter's credit, he took me seriously when I said "extra"!!!) That is Victory #2 b/c I usually like a syrupy Sprite with a Mexican dinner.
Enter Victory #3.
For dinner, I got a "Tarascos Salad" -- which is sorta the house salad (since the name of the place is
Los Tarascos... I ordered it sans the shell (don't like the shell anyway, but didn't want to chance it getting into my salad) AND sans ANY cheese. The salad basically was lettuce, MAYBE half a chicken breast of grilled chicken, bell peppers, onions, some other "root" sort of veggie (I wonder if it was jicama), and the menu said that it had beans (pintos) in it. You want the honest truth?? I saw two baby beans in it. That's IT.
I think there was some vinegar and MAYBE a little oil, though it wasn't much, if any. Then I
ordered a side of grilled onions.
Although it wasn't the BEST Mexican food I'd ever eaten, it filled me up, and for 8 points?!?
Can't beat that.
So my friend, K, is definitely my little guardian angel...guarding me against the evil little devil on my shoulder. You know who you are, K, and I want to thank you publicly for helping me talk myself out of a burrito smothered in cheese!!! Those successes made me feel so empowered, even though it was not easy to be so conscientious.
But as they say, what - worth having - is easy to obtain??
So I just really wanted to share my victories (it's the small things that count, right?)... and guess what?!? I have enough points to have some desert: WW "chocolate oreo" bar (scraped off the stick & into a bowl), a little chocolate syrup, a dollop of whipped cream, and a cherry on top.....for my own 4 point sundae!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am pumped!
That took alot of will power!
