Unlike Elle, we had very unseasonably warm weather over the weekend. As in 70's. I love Spring. I love Spring weather. But I love it most when it happens in the Spring! Not in January! Oh well - it finally got cold today, so we're enjoying weather in the 30's and 40's...but still not cold enough for me. Oh well...

So - I will let you in on happenings over the weekend.

On Friday evening, we took down our Christmas tree. That's always a little sad to me - but this year, I was ready to get it down. We left it up through the Russian Christmas, so by the time it came down, I was ready to have my house back. I have a very orderly way of taking the tree down, and that involves taking each ornament off the tree and setting it on the couch. Then out comes the big box that has all of the original ornament boxes...each ornament goes back in its original box and then into the big box...then back to the attic! This may not look orderly to you, but I assure you, (for me anyway!) it was:

We also painted Little One's room on Saturday & Sunday afternoon. We were *trying* to save the painting till we were a little farther along (as in between Trip 1 & Trip 2), but we SO hate to paint! So since we had a long weekend, we decided to go ahead & get it overwith. Please ignore the decor (I am working on that!)...but here are the before/after shots of the room:

This seafoam green just did not "go" with the warmer colors in the rest of the house. Believe me, when I say that I tried to think of ways to incorporate this color into what I wanted in the nursery! THAT, my friends, is how badly I hate painting!! :)




Nathan's parents were in town Saturday, so they brought Nat over to help us paint. She was very cute and helped us by painting names on the wall. Unfortunately, Nathan had to cover those names up - but her process made great pictures!!


My other helper, Mia. I really lie when I say she was a helper. Nathan bought paper drop cloths for some reason, and they were sure crinkly! Mia LOVES crinkly paper, so she had a heyday getting up under the drop cloths, thus up under our feet! It was funny at first but quickly turned into an annoyance. The novelty finally wore off, and she went on to play with other things.



The finished product (sans decor). The color is called "Paper Bag." What a drab name! But the color turned out to be better than I even thought (it's actually a tad darker in person than it is on film)!! Some of you know what I am doing for a theme, but I'm not going to announce it over the blog yet. I think it is going to turn out AWESOME! But for now, till I post pictures, it shall remain a mystery.

I am now going to do lots of little things - my "waiting projects" - and possibly even attempt to make my own bedding. I don't know how this will go - but I am certainly going to try! I made a new friend, C. She is expecting a baby, after her own set of trials (which certainly gives us something in common) - and she has done lots of little crafty projects for her nursery. I think that it will be fun to start motherhood around the same time as a friend...the idea of being able to sit down with another first-time mom and talk about our kids (and motherhood in general) is something that has been one of those ever-elusive things to me. I guess that so many of our married peers are already on their 2nd and 3rd children - so it's hard to feel like we "fit" sometimes. So being a firsttime mom with someone (IRL - who is very close to my age) will be a neat thing. I'm really looking forward to it.

Anyway - but I digress!

Yesterday, I went baby- furniture looking with C. This is also something that is a foreign thing to me, the whole idea of baby-furniture looking. And it's not something that really interests Nathan at all. Well, the furniture, itself, is interesting to him - but he's not so "into" making decisions about it. To him, a crib is a crib (I'm sure I oversimplify this idea somewhat!)......but we girls all know it's not that easy!! Ha ha! So I went to an unfinished furniture store in town, and found a beautiful changing table and a crib that I like. I'll have to get back with you on the crib - they only had one style in stock, and I'd like to have other choices to choose from - but I definitely like the changing table!

And the great thing about an unfinished furniture store is that I can have the furniture finished to my exact specifications!

Of course, there's another savings account that needs to be set up......this 'having a baby' thing can get pretty expensive!!! :)

Oh well...

Well, I guess I'd better wrap it up for now. I guess that's really about it for the weekend. I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend - and even though I'm still maintaining my realistic outlook, I am still hoping & praying for some GOOD reaccreditation news (for all of us) VERY SOON!! :) I figure it can't hurt to be a little bit optimistic!
