We may or may not ever be able to make an announcement that "we're pregnant"...but we have come to understand that the blessing is the fact that however parenthood happens, it is a miracle! ....... Now we have been home with our precious blessing from Russia since August 2007. Join us on our fun and crazy ride that we call "life with this child of mine."

Answers & Stuff - bullet style
Please...tonight...ignore my sentence structure and grammar. I'm so tired - but I want to give you a little something to read.

  • I guess I'm seriously lacking in creativity and content when I resort to posting a pie graph that relates to a Meatloaf song...from over 10 years ago. It's a great song, and the pie graph illustrates that Meatloaf will "do anything" for love, but won't do "that" (whatever that is...there is debate over that issue). I really did laugh out loud and am happy to know that at least 3 other people (one, being my sister who didn't comment) enjoyed the reference!

  • My hair...I still love it. I do not miss my ponytail, and am looking forward to the days of summer when I do not have hot hair on my neck. Nathan prefers long hair to short, but has always been so good about not trying to force me to keep it one way or another. He actually says he likes it...and I'm glad because I do, too. Iliya had an interesting reaction. He actually pointed to me, when I got home the evening of the cut, and said, "ho ho ho!" And the "ho ho ho" recently seems to not only refer to Santa...but also things that Iliya wants to bring attention to (perhaps things that he sees that he was not expecting??) He doesn't even notice it anymore - or he doesn't comment, if he notices. I didn't have to worry about things like twirling my hair on his fingers, because he didn't seem to use it for soothing himself or anything like that - if he had done some of that, I would've thought twice about cutting it.

  • The main problem with my short hair like this is that it requires more maintenance (haircuts). And my hair is ultra thick & grows super fast - which means that I really could get it cut every 3 weeks. I can't afford that, so I go with once a month, and we are doing some serious cutting and thinning/shaping at that point. I feel like the shaggy dog by the time I get to the salon chair every month. But I'm not coloring (yet, haha), so at least a cut is the only maintenance that needs to be done right now.

  • My Mamaw is doing great & is home from the hospital after her surgery last week. Iliya still points to his chest and says (in his most pitiful voice), "Mammmaaaaaawwww....boo-boooooooo....chest" He really worries - and he tells almost everyone this information.

  • We went to eat at our FAVE Japanese restaurant, last night, for my SIL's birthday. We sat at the grill...and I had wondered how Iliya would do. He enjoyed the miso soup, and the tomato from my salad...but when our chef made his entry, Iliya became a little unsure. The thing that did him completely in was the fire at the beginning of the cooking presentation. Scared him to death...which I felt really bad about. His reaction was priceless, though - he cried and kept saying "all done! all done!" The entire restaurant got roped into our Japanese steakhouse drama. But I took him from his highchair, and held him for a little while...the fire was soon gone...and he felt okay-enough to sit back in his highchair. But he kept glancing around at the other grilles in the room, especially when fire was involved. He was mesmerized...and I guess, making sure the fire wasn't coming his way. Once our chef left, Iliya ate rice (complete with shrimp sauce), some mushrooms, a piece of chicken & several pieces of shrimp.

  • My BIL said he got some good pictures last night - so as soon as I get them, I will post them. I know you are ready for some "boy" pictures...rather than Meatloaf graphics!!

  • A few of you have asked about my photographs, and I apologize that I have not answered about that. I don't really have many answers for you, because I'm really learning, myself. My camera is an awesome Digital SLR (Nikon D80) and until recently, I have allowed the camera to do the work for me, on automatic settings. Within the past 2 months, I've really tried to branch out and learn more about how to utilize the aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc. And it's not an easy task for my little, tired brain! Slowly but surely, I'm getting a bit faster at using my manual settings, but I've got QUITE a bit of practice until I'm good at it. I do ph0t0shop. I currently have a dinosaur version but it has done the job of allowing me to get my feet wet in the area of editing photographs. I try not to do too much to a picture (and again, I'm weird, and want to learn the manual way of editing, and not use too many automatic or preselected editing settings) but some photos just need it! As a sidenote, if you would like to see some of my photographs in one place, I've started a new photo blog. It's nothing special and I had debated on whether or not to make it public...but then I figured...why not?

Cool photos on your photo blog. I did not know there was such a thing. I am amazed at how much you get done! You go, girl! So glad your mamaw is doing well.
