We may or may not ever be able to make an announcement that "we're pregnant"...but we have come to understand that the blessing is the fact that however parenthood happens, it is a miracle! ....... Now we have been home with our precious blessing from Russia since August 2007. Join us on our fun and crazy ride that we call "life with this child of mine."

The "No Plans" Weekend
Weekends like this upcoming one are rare for us. They are also nice. They are the weekends that, long ago, Nathan & I dubbed "no plans weekends"...which is - exactly - what they are. No football games, no going out of town, no visitors, no Drill, no nothing. We just start out the weekend with nothing planned - and do whatever comes to us. Now that we have a child - and very little "just the three of us" family time during the week (and even most weekends), these "no plans weekends" are even more meaningful. If we end up going outside & working/playing in the yard, then that's what we do. If we end up going grocery shopping, then that's what we do. If we end up in the house, playing all day, then that's what we do. It's quality family time - something that we do not get much of, through the week. We will have breakfast, lunch & dinner together tomorrow. We are so excited.

The only thing that throws a wrench in the "no plans" is the fact that Nathan has a final exam he has to take online in the morning. Fortunately, he can do it early & be done with it. My friend Ginger & her enormous family are also coming into town to visit family & do some sightseeing, so they may stop by the house for a few minutes in the morning to say hello (all the kids have not met Iliya - but the youngest is not as interested in meeting Iliya as she is meeting Gracie & Heathcliff, our dogs). But once Nathan is finished with his exam, we will be free to resume our "no plans" weekend.

Have I mentioned that we are excited?

In other news, I had to work late last night, so I only got to see my child for about 20 minutes yesterday. It almost killed me - but I managed. Aunt Kristy & cousin Nat kept Iliya for an hour & a half, before Nathan got home. From what I hear, Iliya pretty much tornadoed their house -but it sounds like they had a pretty good time. And when I got home at 8:30 last night, my child was sound asleep - the first time in over 3 months that anyone other than me has rocked him to sleep. I was very proud of him & Nathan for making it without me (though I had no doubts that they could...it's usually me that has a hard time making it without Nathan!).

And Iliya has slept the past 2 nights. I hope this continues!

Enjoy your family weekend, it sounds wonderful. We're off to a Russian Festival at the local Russian Orthodox Church. It will be interesting to see how the kids react to native Russian speakers. I'll let you know.

Complete joy! I haven't had a toddler in the house to go through all my tupperware in years. We had lots and lots of fun! Between the tupperware, the empty cardboard box and opening the desk drawers in the living room...who needed toys?? Ah...good times. Love, Aunt Kristy
