We may or may not ever be able to make an announcement that "we're pregnant"...but we have come to understand that the blessing is the fact that however parenthood happens, it is a miracle! ....... Now we have been home with our precious blessing from Russia since August 2007. Join us on our fun and crazy ride that we call "life with this child of mine."

And...2 weeks later...
Have you noticed it has been 2 weeks since I've blogged? You have? I can't believe it.

I almost forgot I had a blog.

Okay...not really.

I have every intention of keeping up with life as it happens...but then it happens, and I just can't keep up. I have noticed that I don't get so worked up about falling behind anymore...which doesn't mean that I am going to quit or anything. But I just don't feel as much pressure to document every moment with a camera or words.

Anyway...I really loved Kate's thoughts on living in the moment. I have learned - therefore, do agree with Kate - that trying to capture every moment takes away from the whole experience of living. At the same time, it is so fun to go back and remember life as it happened. So I'm going to work on catching (back) up...and work (but not overly hard) on not falling behind (again).

Here goes...

Oh!  First...take a look at my 2 boys in their seersucker. Aren't they handsome?


  • Two Fridays ago, we closed on our other house, so we are officially no longer home owners.  Sometime around that closing, we made an offer on the house we found here.  With the housing market in the condition it's in, we were a little gun-shy about committing to another home...but this house just sort of fell into our lap.  It really had everything we were looking for (excellent neighborhood/school, great size, solid structure), it just needs updating.  In fact, the neighborhood where the house is located is a bit out of our price range...but the fact that it needs updating brings it down to very affordable.  And once we do some of those updates, the value will shoot right back up.  After the home inspection brought up only very minor issues, we now have a contract and are set to close toward the end of this month.
  • So...do you like my elf?  He found this shirt and insisted on wearing it to bed...after he found the hat that is too small for him.  You can see that we're already training him well for housework. :)  Santa Claus is still a much-talked about persona around our house.  This child cannot wait for Christmas to get here...his favorite song is, "Here Comes Santa Claus."
  • Iliya will start in a new classroom at school tomorrow.  I think it will be an interesting transition, more than likely.......but I do like his new teacher.
  • Iliya still loves to read...doesn't matter who takes the time out of their busyness to read to him...but just that they do.
  • The day after I wrote my last post, our 8-year old tabby cat, Jay, got out of the house.  Our cats do not have their front claws and even before those claws came out, Jay did not have the best run of luck living outdoors (he lived outside before coming to us permanently).  Compounding my fear for his safety was the fact that we currently live on a very busy road that would put a person - even more, a cat - in peril were said person (or cat) to attempt to cross the road.   One day led to another and we finally gave up on finding our kitty...or him coming home.  Six days later, he actually showed back up on our doorstep...I imagine he hadn't had much luck catching woodland creatures and his stomach was probably growling quite fiercely.  So...Jay is back, and we jokingly say that the (almost) week-long walkabout was due to his midlife crisis.
  • Our favorite movies, right now, include Monsters, Inc., and The Wizard of Oz.    I have never cared for the Wizard of Oz...but Iliya was introduced to it by my mom...and surprisingly, he's not scared of it (at least for now).  He has told me that he looooooves that movie...and it is one of the few that he will actually sit through.  He runs around singing the songs, "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" and "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead."  He also has a broom that he likes to hold up and run around, saying, "I'm a witch!  Hellooooooo, my little pretty!"  I'm beginning to wonder if we might have a future actor on our hands.
Well, now, that was all over the place!  

But wait!  I've got more!  Pictures, even!  But in true "catch up" style, I am going to spread the goodness over a couple different posts.  So...

You're just now seeing his acting talent? I've been ready to sign him with an agent for YEARS!

I do think pictures are important. They're just not the most important. Thanks for the kind agreement. ;>
