We may or may not ever be able to make an announcement that "we're pregnant"...but we have come to understand that the blessing is the fact that however parenthood happens, it is a miracle! ....... Now we have been home with our precious blessing from Russia since August 2007. Join us on our fun and crazy ride that we call "life with this child of mine."

And the Big Talker Award goes to....
Me.
Yep, all that talk about getting you to come back to see pictures from Christmas.
I go to my camera, load all the pictures, and do you know how many I have? A measly 50. In the old days of film, 50 pictures was pretty good. But in this, the digital era, it's not uncommon for me to go crazy during family functions and have way too many pictures to choose from.
Not this Christmas. I guess I was having too much fun being in the middle of Christmas, rather than on the "outskirts" with the camera. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, right?
Here are the few that I do have & felt were worthy of the post:
Santa's letter to Iliya, thanking him for the cookies, milk, and the apple for Rudolph.
Reaching in the stocking to figure out what all is in there! (yes, it's a brownie beanie on his head...mine, actually, from 25 years ago)
Vacuuming with the new vacuum cleaner...the kid likes to clean, he's got that going for him! His wife will one day thank us!
"Faux" Santa pics... my SIL wanted to get both her kids' picture made with Santa this year, but because Tabitha spent time in the NICU, the doctors did not want her to get out any more than what she needed to (i.e., doctor appointments). The man in these pictures goes to church with SIL & BIL (formerly with us, too, till we moved). Iliya has always been obsessed with him...thinks he is Santa Claus (any guesses as to why?). It took months, but we finally convinced him that this man is not, in fact, Santa...but Mr. Wayne. And then we ask Mr. Wayne to come over, dressed in a Santa suit so that Nat & Tabitha could have pics made with Santa this year. Talk about confusing one little boy! But he did fine with it...better than I thought he might, even!!
And a cool gift from Nana & Papa...a J.D. tractor. He loves this gift!!
Finally, loaded down and ready to head to the house. This is the part where you say, "Only in Alabama........" (and yes, we got some interesting looks - mostly from kids with incredulous looks on their faces or adults with smiles on their faces that said, "oh look, how cute/silly/redneck" :))
I've also got some video that I need to sort through...so maybe by July, you'll have a compilation video of this Christmas (I'm kidding, of course...but only halfway, since I'm working hard on schoolwork these days, trying to graduate in May). I think that actually videotaping took most of my energy this year...which is why there are so few actual pictures.
And truly, saved for last...a study of my child wearing his new bathrobe from my grandmother...and slippers from my sister. Are you seeing the wardrobe theme, here? I couldn't pick just one or two of these to share, since each picture captures a different side of Iliya's little(BIG) personality (which was totally unplanned...but such a nice suprise!) Enjoy!!

we both loved the tractor/jeep pic :) I must say that I have seen much stranger things in Alabama. ya know the bigger the boy, the bigger the toy. next year you may have to have a trailer to get Iliya's gift home.
