We may or may not ever be able to make an announcement that "we're pregnant"...but we have come to understand that the blessing is the fact that however parenthood happens, it is a miracle! ....... Now we have been home with our precious blessing from Russia since August 2007. Join us on our fun and crazy ride that we call "life with this child of mine."

Three-Hundred Pound Man in a Speedo
After supper tonight, we were treated to this view. Truly. Well, he may've been two-fifty. But he was in a speedo. And do you think we saw this man on the beach that is near the hotel? Of course not! He was playing tennis. And had knee pads on. Did you get that the guy was in a speedo?

Aside from our funny child, this definitely takes the cake as the funniest thing we've seen on this trip. I guess if it had been the middle of the day, you know, when the sun was out... maybe it would've made sense. But it was at dusk, so no soaking up the sun for this guy.

Anyway... tomorrow, we move back to a regular room. There's some convention going on this week, and all the suites were prebooked for the rest of the week. So we'll be back in a regular room, probably until we leave next week. We'll have to be up a little early in the morning to get things together, so in the interest of getting to bed at a decent hour, I need to make this fairly short tonight.

It's hard to believe that tomorrow, we are halfway through our ten days! The days are going fairly quickly...I guess because we have a pretty standard routine each day.

A few things from today:
  • Have I mentioned that my child LOVES to eat? He doesn't seem to have that "cutoff" switch, so we have to help him know when to stop. I am sure that a lot of this is because of his history...but he sure is pitiful when we have to take food away (or even just when he finishes a meal)
  • He had the hiccups - twice! - today. Some of his hiccups are normal; others are more of a "hiccup-burp!" variety. I think this is a result of eating a little too much.
  • He feeds himself very well, and is happy when we let him do so.
  • My child also loves to dance. He has some great moves...well, mostly just a side to side stepping motion. But he sure loves to do it! Nathan calls it his "Iliya-white-man-dance."
  • One of his newest "things" is to hold water in his mouth. He'll get a drink and will hold it there for 5 minutes. He thinks it is pretty funny, too. But the funniest thing to him is not swallowing it. Sometimes he will...but quite often, he'll just open up & let it (and all the slobber that has collected as a result of not swallowing) fall out. Gross. But oddly funny, mainly because he gets such a kick out of it
  • Also, when he eats something, he'll hold it in his mouth...take it out and put it back in. This usually isn't a problem, because things like crackers & bread dissolve. But give him a piece of hardboiled egg (just a little bit - and don't worry, he's not allergic to eggs) and it doesn't dissolve. But you know the trick to getting him to swallow a hardboiled egg piece? Give him a sippy cup of juice. Yep, that'll work!

I sure wish I had the cord to transfer videos from my little camera to the computer. I sure would love to be able to show y'all videos while we're gone. Unfortunately, I must've left it at home...so I guess that won't be happening. And I'm sorry for that, because I have some great video!

Well...I must be going for now. I hope you all are doing well! We are excited that we are 40% finished with our 10 days...and are looking forward to making our way home!!

What, no picture of "speedoman"?! That must have been some sight, especially the way you described him! HA!
We love hearing about how your day goes. That little man is just amazing! The way he fit right into your family, as if he belongs there...which he does!!
We pray for the time to pass pleasantly fast, so we can get you all home!
Kisses and hugs,
Nana & Papa

Playing tennis in a speedo and knee pads...wow! I'm afraid to ask what the other player was wearing. ;-)

Sounds like things are going pretty smooth with Little I. I look forward to seeing more pictures of him and some video once you get home. Btw, what happens after the 10th day? Do you already have your flight to go home on the 11th day or is there more processing before you actually leave the country?

Ok.. the holding water in his mouth and then letting it all run out made me laugh out loud. I could just picture him doing it. Very cute.
Very happy for you guys! So cool that you can share this with all of us as it's happening.

Oh My. I can imagine the site. I hope Nathan wasn't too jealous of Speedo man. I mean sometimes a woman has got to look.

Sounds like all is going extremely well for you. We love reading how well Iliya is doing and how much fun you are having together as a family.

Many blessings!

Of course I have to give you Grandmother advice. I know it's funny with him holding the water in his mouth. Mine did that too. But Jason would hold cold weiners in his mouth. I didn't know that the heat from his mouth would cause it to swell and he almost choked to death. I freaked out until I got it to come up. CPR training is very helpful. I only freaked for a minute. But I hate to think of what if he was not in his highchair and I was in another room and didn't see it happen? My doctor tole me that toddler's choke on weiners more than anything else except balloons. So watch out for Little I's habits of holding things in. Just a friendly note.

I wanted to see a picture of Speedo man. You know that was a gross site. Would be like me in a "Bikini". Ask Aunt Nancy or Misty about that one.

Please send me pictures of Little Iliya. Email address is TuBamaFans0427@aol.com. I love the one of him on the post. Also, I think you need to write books. I can hardly wait to read your posts. This is one of my highlights of my evenings.

Love,
Uncle Earl and Aunt Carolyn
