More Precious Than Gold
On Friday, I picked Iliya up from school, and his teacher met me at the door, excitedly telling me that Iliya had something special to give to me.

Earlier in the day, she had put out pipe cleaners and beads for a threading exercise, and the children were making bracelets.

She said that all the children were so excited to make bracelets for themselves. Every one of them, except for Iliya. She said declared that he was going to make a bracelet for his mommy...and he sat and carefully chose each bead, until he had the bracelet just right.

I challenge you...tell me what could be more precious than a pipe cleaner bracelet made by your almost 4-year old? For me, not even gold beats the thoughtfulness and love of a child.

I am so blessed.

Amen! The bracelet is beautiful!!!

Oh, I can just see the expression on his face as he was creating his work of art for you. This brought tears as I thought about my memories of you as a child......you know how parents often say they hope their child has one just like them so they can "pay for their rasing"? Of course that's not usually meant in a fond way, but in this case it is. Whenever you went somewhere without me, you always, and I do mean each & every time, brought something back for me. For quite awhile it was silk roses -- usually one or two that eventually made a bouquet (and I, of course, still have it displayed in our bedroom) and then it was other items...sometimes a pin, or a stuffed animal. Remember the time you ordered flowers for my birthday when you were in 6th grade & had them delivered to your school so you'd have them to give to me when I picked you up from school? And the lovely assortment of stationary that you assembled from your collection and added the most precious note. And when you wanted to mail-order a piece of jewelry & asked them to personalize it by adding a note from you. I still have it all as a reminder of your love and thoughtfulness. I treasure each gift that you, Christopher, Sarah & Johnathan gave me, whether hand-crafted or bought and I'm sure it's the same now for you.

much love,
mom

What an absolute angel.
You are indeed, blessed!
AND it's gorgeous - maybe you have a future jewelry designer on your hands!

The most beautiful bracelet I've ever seen! Brings tears to my eyes just thinking about him working so hard on it for you. We are such lucky mommies!

Just thinking of those little man fingers beading a bracelet for mom with the little brow furrowed in concentration ... how precious!
