We took Iliya to see
Seussical last Friday night. One of my co-worker's children were in the play -
TCT did a great job - everything was colorful and fast-paced. Because it was all such a new experience - and Iliya was tired - he actually stayed still and mesmerized all the way through intermission. I'd had reservations about taking him to his first play so young, but it really all turned out well - there weren't a lot of very quiet moments...so the little amount of noise he did make was not disruptive.

After intermission, he got pretty restless and I thought we were going to have to leave early, but he calmed down (Act 2 was fairly short) enough for us to stay until the end.
It was a great play, and we're glad we went. I didn't take my camera, but fortunately another of my co-workers had hers & she snapped a few pictures. You'll notice that my child has a zombie quality about him...yeah, that's because he was up more than an hour past his bedtime, and he turns into a pumpkin after 7:45 (sometimes earlier!) every night. So the play was an exception to our usual rule of being home and in bed so early...and really, only because the next day was Saturday and we didn't have anything that required an early rising.
a zombie-like Iliya gives a hug to SM, who was a baby KangarooI wasn't sure that Iliya would remember enough about the soundtrack to associate the music with his play-going experience...but yesterday afternoon, I decided that we would listen to the soundtrack while we were in the car. The minute the first song came on, Iliya said, "Mama! Cat! Hat! Cat! Hat! Dance!" Sometimes I totally underestimate that child of mine. Naturally, since yesterday, that is all he has wanted to listen to. Anytime we get in the car, his first words are, "Mama? Cat, Hat, Dance?" And he has started to repeat some of the lyrics. So we
both may have this one memorized before we know it!
I had hoped that we could've made it to the play when I found out what show TCT was doing. So much talent in the other shows we've seen! Aunt Rah-rah may have to share the stage spotlight some day with a little fella :o)
And Happy (late) Birthday to Aunt Kiki!...looks like y'all had a good time with the Japanese cuisine!
love y'all,
~ mom/granmom
Linda, thanks for the Birthday wishes, too! It was tons of fun. Bless him, he didn't care for the flames too much...but THE SOUP!! Couldn't get enough of that...takes after his dear Aunt KiKi on that one :)
Lots of love, Kristy
